Welded carbon steel pipe is made of carbon steel strip or steel plate, and is made by coiling, high-frequency resistance welding (ERW), submerged arc welding (LSAW) or spiral welding (SSAW). It has the advantages of efficient production and economy. Its manufacturing process is flexible, and it can produce pipes with a wide range of diameters (from DN15 to DN2500 and above), and the cost is significantly lower than that of seamless pipes. It is especially suitable for medium and low pressure and non-rigorous working conditions.
According to the welding method, welded carbon steel pipes can be divided into straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes. The weld of straight seam welded pipe is straight, the structure is simple, and the pressure bearing capacity is relatively balanced. It is mostly used in urban pipelines, building supports and general fluid transportation; the weld of spiral welded pipe is spiral, and the length of a single pipe is longer. It is suitable for large-diameter oil and gas pipelines and areas sensitive to geological subsidence. Both types of pipes need to be ensured by means of radiographic inspection, ultrasonic testing and other means to ensure the quality of the welds, and some areas also need to be treated with anti-corrosion coatings to extend the service life.
